Another finish!

As promised, here is the Christmas skirt I finished. I absolutely love it too. I will probably do things a little different on my next one.  It was a little difficult sewing over all those gathers. I will definitely have to make a few more to go under our other trees.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I love this time of the year.  The weather is getting colder and my favorite holiday is right around the corner. There is just no other season better than Christmas! So with that being said, this was the perfect time to begin another project. We needed a new Christmas tree skirt.  Pretty Prudent had a tutorial on a beautiful, ruffly (is that a word?) one. I did things a little different.  There was no way I was going to manually do all that gathering. I got out my ruffle foot, some leftover fabrics from previous projects and got to work.  I don't know what size my strips ended up, but I did have to add 1 extra strip to row 5 and 2 strips to row 6.  Once I made all my gathers and formed each row of strips, I found it easier to pin them to the felt. I just didn't trust myself.  I'll let you guys know in a few days how it all turns out. Happy quilting!

All Done!

So happy to have another WIP completed. Maybe I will get that stack of quilts down after all. I must say the binding was sort of a beast to finish. I don't know what I was thinking. Using 2 layers of batting AND a flannel backing, geesh!  Oh well, you live and you learn. However, I am very happy with the end result and I think baby Kyrin will love this quilt. Here are a few finished shots, even one with my little one pretending to be asleep. Love that crazy kid!

Thanks for stopping by and happy quilting.

Another finish, woot woot!

I 'm singing another one bites the dust! Yes, I have finished another quilt. Trying to push through and finish some of those quilts I showed months ago. I am about to do the binding, yeah me!  It is a cute little number featuring embroidered animals and it is for my great nephew Kyrin. I just love how this little gem turned out. This is such a snuggly and warm quilt.  I used 2 layers of warm and natural batting and flannel backing. It will definitely be very warm and toasty.

Will be back soon to show you how it all turns out with the bias binding. Happy quilting!

Progress, what?

I continue to make slow progress on my projects, but progress is progress right?  Remember the little Tiana quilt? She is all set for the binding so I thought I would give a peek at where I am with it. I am absolutely loving the binding fabric. It is the bluey square print fabric. However, I haven't decided if I will do a bias binding or if I'll do straight grain. Sorry for the dark pics but the lighting in my sewing room is not the greatest. Enjoy and happy quilting!

here is the finished quilt with the new owner. I am so happy that she loved it.

Is this a quilt blog or what?

Lately I seem to have lost my quilting mojo.  Even though I have numerous projects in the works, I just can't seem to find the inspiration to sit in front of my machine. I have acquired an interest in apparel sewing and taken advantage of some recent sales.  My local Joanne's and Hancock's Fabrics have had various patterns on sale and needless to say, I have picked up a ton.  Thanks to Mimi G, I really am going to make an honest effort and try to make some decent clothing! Hopefully I will begin to feel the urge to sew and have something to show you guys soon.
Happy quilting and sewing!

A quickie post

I have been MIA for awhile, but have been trying to squeeze in some sewing into my hectic life. I have been having difficulty with the dresses I have been trying to make for my little one. That adorable pink tulle dress gave me the blues! I was so frustrated with all that tulle. After stitching it and trying to readjust the lining and get everything measured and hemmed correctly, I had to rip out all those stitches and start the skirt portion over, huge bummer. So like any normal person, I jumped to another project (I can't be the only one who does that). I started another dress that was supposed to be for my sister-in-law's anniversary party. Yeah I said suppose, because I didn't finish that either. I was in a hurry and put the lining on before the tulle skirt. Nonetheless, I'm almost finished with it now. Just gotta find some white, satin ribbon and a silver flower. Finally something will be finished yeah!

Happy quilting and sewing!
